Our Projects

    • Goal: Operationalize our thesis immediately by ensuring full, substantive participation for Project Committee members with Intellectual Disabilities

    • The Gap: Standard board governance (long PDFs, rapid-fire verbal debate) is structurally exclusionary

    • The Solution: Develop the "Governance Scaffolding"—accessible decision briefs, asynchronous voting mechanisms, and pre-meeting "simulation/rehearsal" protocols—that allow members with IDD to hold real power, not token seats

    • Principle: Use best practices before technology on this front, and adopt those from organizations doing inclusion correctly and joyfully, no matter their domain

Target: Immediate implementation and active recruitment for Q1 meetings with one new project committee member with intellectual disabilities recruited and enabled; level of implementation is lower stakes at the moment only because Project Committee is formally advisory, but that is only noted to allow for initial imperfection and iteration on this general topic, not delay

    • Goal: Establish the first data-driven baseline for how people with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) are actually using generative AI.

    • Methodologies: Qualitative interviews coupled with structured surveys. Trusted caregiver-assisted (with clear guidance and support from us) if necessary. Perhaps tech-assisted data collection, depending on the comfort level of participants and our ability to execute on something like that ethically.

    • Justification: You cannot build a solution until you measure the problem. This project grounds Aristoi in data, establishing necessary credibility with funders and policy partners.

    • Goal: Build a cognitive prosthetic to restore agency in the Individualized Education Program (IEP) process for transition-age youth (18-21).

    • The Mandate Failure: The law requires full participation, but the complex, inaccessible documents turn the mandate into a token gesture.

    • The Solution: An LLM-backed tool that translates complex documents into user-friendly formats and structures the user's input into compliant, actionable language. Trusted caregivers and support professionals “in the loops” as well, for clarification, validation, etc.

    • Justification: This project directly solves an existing design deficit that subverts a legal mandate, providing a high-utility, immediate-impact artifact.

    • Goal: Design the next-generation cognitive interface that is built into the environment.

    • Concept: Move beyond screen-bound chatbots into "context-aware" infrastructure (e.g., the Jetsons Kitchen, Ship’s Computer) that uses local sensing to cue the user through tasks without demanding explicit, friction-heavy commands.

    • Justification: This project demonstrates our commitment to long-term R&D, positioning Aristoi as a thought leader in humane, integrated technology design. And demonstrates our focus on practical, lived independence and dignity for people with intellectual disabilities.
